US ASSIST SRI LANKA TO PROVIDE BUSINESS TRAINING FOR ‘WAR WIDOWS’


Oct 17, Colombo: The United States has provided assistance to Sri Lanka to launch a project for the women widowed due to the three-decade long armed conflict to receive business training.

The War Widows Project launched in partnership with the Ministry of Industry ∓ Commerce to open handloom training centers and provide entrepreneurship training for widows in Mannar and Mullaitivu is supported through nearly Rs. 15 million from the United States.

Michael Delaney, Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Central and South Asia, leading a U.S. Trade Delegation discussed the launch of the “War Widows Project” with Neela Marikkar, Chairperson from The Grant Group.
